Meet The Band
Rembert & the Basic Goodness is a Brooklyn-based cabaret-pop band known for it’s originality, sophistication and humor. The band was founded by Rembert Block in 2016 and over the course of several months it evolved into the current and definitive group it is today, featuring Russell Alderson on bass and vocals, Jagoda on drums, Jeff Hudgins on saxophone, and Rembert Block, lead vocals and accordion.
Rembert & the Basic Goodness play regularly in the New York City boroughs at clubs such as Rockwood Music Hall, Pangea, The Way Station, Footlight, Pete’s Candy Store, The Treehouse at 2A, and others.
Block’s intensely vivid, psychologically oriented poetry is offset by her charmingly catchy, rhythmically surprising melodies. Each band member brings their unique quirky virtuosity to the songs, creating an original, organic and dramatic sound. On stage, Block’s striking presence and powerful vocals, together with the lively attuned fusion between the players, captivate audiences.
Rembert & the Basic Goodness released their debut recording, Stay Plastic, engineered and produced by Mike Fornatale in April 2018. Block and her band are now working on Selfie! a musical play commissioned by The Vortex Theater in Austin, TX. Selfie! opens for a two-week run at the theater in April 2022. A full-length CD recording of Selfie! Songs will be released at the same time.
